FL Studio 10 on Mac OSX?

Written by Richard

Topics: FL Studio 10 Information

For a year or so, Image Line has been working on a version of FL Studio that can run under Mac OSX through a customized Crossover wrapper. This eliminates the use of Crossover or Bootcamp and a seperate Windows installation and will install directly from a .dmg file.

Image Line has reached a milestone in the development of a Mac OSX version now that they are looking for experienced FL Studio users with a Mac computer that can beta-test the software from late September / October. The only requirement is that you are a customer for over 2 years and have access to a Mac.

The current beta-version doesn’t support AU (Audio Unit) files, only (PC) VST’s and FL Studio Native plugins. Third party VST’s need to be tested and reported on a case-by-case basis.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a release of FL Studio 10 on Mac OSX during the holidays or so. Also if you have been accepted as a beta-tester, share your experience with us!

I can’t wait for the release of this version. I’ve been using FL since ver. 4.1.0 and I’ll never use another DAW. I too recently switched to Apple computers, but instead of wait I just use bootcamp and have a smaller Windows 7 partition for music production. The stock audio drivers for Windows on Apple hardware are notoriously terrible, and I’m excited to be able to run FL (semi)natively without the need to do the driver dance and have my HDD partitioned.

Let’s hope that some people with field experience share their thoughts!

Please give some insight on how you have been using FL Studio on your mac. I have been waiting on this software for awhile. Thanks for any help.

Not much info is released about this wrapper version, however people have claimed good results when using FL Studio through Bootcamp on Mac. I’m afraid we’ll have to wait a long time before we’ll see FL Studio working natively on Mac though.

I’ve been running a copy of Fl 10 on my macbook air for two weeks now and I must say it is awesome. It is kind of buggy but I’m sure the full release will be better ..
